Naga

A serpentine race of aquatic monsters. Nagas possess two arms at just below the head or their otherwise completely serpent body. These creatures live in crude tribal villages that are sculpted from coral reefs or soft rock upon the ocean floor. Under the rule of their powerful Shaman leaders, the Nagas remain peaceful to surface dwellers and other intelligent creatures unless provoked. Extremely territorial, these simple creatures will instantly attack any possible threat that enters their territory. However Nagas will retreat or flee if they believe the threat to large. Communicating in an inaudible dialect the Nagas language has not been deciphered and communication with the beasts is all but impossible, with forms of telepathy the only known method to commune with the creatures. Hunters and gathers, these serpentine creatures are fierce in combat and care immensely for their own. Weapons and armour made of various corals can inject various poisons and leave stinging sores upon victims, with some champion Nagas applying the venom of slain aquatic animals upon their weapons. Each tribe is led by a powerful Shaman naga who uses primordial magics to control the currents and temperatures around the villages to keep the conditions favourable. These leaders tend to become corrupted over time due to the primordial magic they use. When this happens the Shaman is either driven out by it’s people or challenged and defeated in combat by a younger Shaman.
